Istanbul

Joined by our wives the trip takes on a very different charachter for a few days. This is a city break with a fine hotel and a reminder of all the things we leave behind when on the road, most notably our loved ones.

Istanbul as ever is full of charm and exotic magic. This being our second visit within two years we spend more time away from the tourist honeyspots and in the atmospheric corners of the city. We walk for miles and explore alleyways and back streets. Here wooden houses hang on against the pressure of developers and in many cases gravity. There is much charm her but there is evidence everywhere that it wont survive nuch longer.

Tomorrow we say good bye and head off towards the Black Sea coast, not looking forward to the parting.
